Frith Park
Frith Park is a large mansion house and associated buildings set within its own grounds in the scenic Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. First farmed by the Le Fryth Family in the 1500s, the original mansion house was built by the Ladbroke family in 1840. Originally built with a walled garden and stable block, the complex was further extended later in the 19th Century adding an orangery, workers cottages and a further formal garden.
After time as a hospital in WWI and the base of the Canadian Infantry’s D-Day operation in WWII, the house ended up in the ownership of the Kahn family. From the early 1950s, it was developed as a specialist printing business until 2014 when the business vacated the site. By 2016 the house and site were left largely in disrepair and unused having had extensive historical alterations over the years.
The property was rendered unsuitable for refurbishment but the locally listed mansion house façade has been restored and the historic landscape reinvigorated with the planting of over 100 new trees and space to breathe for the retained historic features (such as the wall of the walled garden).
OSP have been involved with the site since 2015, preparing the detailed technical design for the conversion and new build elements of the site into 37 residential dwellings of various sizes and styles, sensitively set within historic forms echoing the site's former glory years. The project has now been completed and the majority of the dwellings are occupied.
